- Tencent Computer services suspended
Date: 12-Jun-2007 Sources: (Shenzhen Daily)
THE telecommunication services of the Shenzhen Tencent Computer System Co. Ltd. have been suspended as the Ministry of Information Industry (MIT) has halted the operation of 265 cross-regional value-added telecommunication service providers to re-vamp the market.
The ministry said these companies had violated industrial regulations, owed connection fees, delayed operations, changed shareholders without permission, and escaped annual inspections. Other companies which had violated industrial regulations include the Beijing Lei Ting Wan Jun Network Technology Co. Ltd. and HYFSOFT Software Co. Ltd. The ministry has required relevant companies to settle operations before June 24. China has so far approved the operation of more than 22,000 value-added telecommunication service providers which constitute a substantial part of the country's telecom industry.
