- China Shipping to build oil tankers

CHINA Shipping Development Co. said yesterday it planned to build six oil tankers worth US$307.56 million for delivery in 2009 and 2010 to help expand its ocean shipping business.
China Shipping has signed an agreement with Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. to build six tankers with a capacity of 76,000 tons, Hong Kong and Shanghai-listed China Shipping said. The deal needs the approval of shareholders, it said. China Shipping would pay in five installments, with 20 percent of the cost coming from its own capital and 80 percent from bank loans, it said.
