TRANSDEV Electronics (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd., the Chinese subsidiary of Transistor Devices Inc. (TDI), a U.S.-based global supplier of power solutions, has moved from Shekou Industrial Zone to its new location in Futian Free Trade Zone in Shenzhen.
The new facility, covering an area of 4,800 square meters, will meet the increasing sales, services, engineering and production needs of TDI customers around the world, the company said.
'The Shenzhen subsidiary is the only facility TDI has in China, and it's an integral part of TDI's global strategy,'Robert Smolinski, president and CEO of TDI, said at the grand opening ceremony yesterday. 'The future development of TDI relies on the Shenzhen subsidiary.'According to Smolinski, global sales of TDI reached US$100 million last year, and the Shenzhen subsidiary contributed more than one-third.
The products manufactured by the Shenzhen company are not only sold to Chinese customers but also exported largely to other countries, according to Gary Mulcahy, CEO of TDI.
The main customer of Transdev Electronics (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. in Shenzhen is Huawei Technologies, thought it is not TDI's largest customer in China, said Jim Boutelle, managing director of TDI's Shenzhen subsidiary.
'Nine years ago, we started operations in China, ... in nine years, we have come a very long way,'said Boutelle in a speech at the ceremony. 'Our future is very bright, and we are very excited by what we see coming.'
