SOME Sinopec refineries have raised their fuel output targets as a top company official pledged to boost production following the government's latest call to ensure supplies amid widespread shortages.
Yanshan refinery, Sinopec's plant in Beijing, raised its planned fuel output by 100,000 tons of gasoline and 50,000 tons of diesel in the fourth quarter, a report on a company Web site said yesterday.
In addition, a catalytic cracking unit with 1.2 million tons per year of capacity, which has been idle since 2000 due to a lack of crude oil supplies, is under repair and will likely go back into operation early next year, the report added.
The plant aimed to boost crude processing by 90,000 tons overall in the fourth quarter, while drawing down 46,000 tons of fuel stocks.
The report did not detail initial planned volumes.
Sinopec's Guangzhou plant planned to raise crude runs by 140,000 tons to 2.86 million tons in the fourth quarter and aimed to lift processing in November to a record high 980,000 tons, or 238,000 barrels a day, another report said.
