- GD Power profit jumps 73 percent

GD Power Development Co. said Thursday that net profit in the first nine months of this year jumped 73 percent from a year earlier to 1.26 billion yuan (US$168 million).
The Shanghai-listed company, a major electricity and heat supplier, said profit was boosted by rising electricity generation as a result of new investment and by efforts to cut costs. Turnover jumped 43 percent to 12.63 billion yuan. GDP Power also cited new accounting rules introduced this year, which have aided earnings at many companies by valuing investments differently.
