- Farm produce exports to breach US$35b

THE country's agricultural product exports have maintained normal growth in 2007 despite unfavorable external pressures, with the whole-year exports expected to breach US$35 billion, according to Huo Jianguo, president of China Chamber of Commerce of Import and Export of Foodstuffs, at the ongoing Canton Fair.
Huo said China's agricultural product exports have seen negative factors such as foreign export technological barriers and yuan appreciation. But due to the faster appreciation of currencies like the euro compared to the yuan, China's exports of agricultural products have managed normal increases, Huo said.
Contracts worth US$3.25b inked
BUSINESS people have signed 81 international cooperation projects involving a total investment of US$3.249 billion at the ongoing Fourth China-ASEAN Expo.
Of all the 81 projects, 37 were signed between China and ASEAN countries, involving US$1.19 billion, or 37 percent of the total. Contracts signed with Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia take up 74 percent of the total value.
China mobile phone-user base at 523m
THERE were 523.32 million subscribers of mobile communication services in China as of the end of September 2007, growing by 1.48 percent month on month and by 18.09 percent year on year, according to statistics published by the Ministry of Information Industry on its Chinese-language Web site Friday.
The number of subscribers at the end of September accounted for 39.9 percent of the country's population (user density), according to the ministry. In contrast, Beijing had the largest user density of 101.6 percent and Shanghai posted the second largest one of 96.2percent among major Chinese cities in September.
