INDUSTRIAL and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), the world's largest lender by market value, and several other banks are applying to set up aircraft leasing companies, Xinhua said yesterday.
Bank of Communications, China Minsheng Banking Corp. and China Merchants Bank are all interested in getting a foothold in the industry as air travel booms in China, Xinhua quoted an industry insider as saying. All four banks were listed as part of a pilot group under a policy that took force in March allowing domestic banks to hold stakes in finance leasing companies.
