BEIJING, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- China will continue to be the world's biggest purchaser of aircraft and engines over the next 20 years, says a Rolls-Royce forecast released at the Beijing Aviation Expo on Wednesday.
The passenger traffic in China grows at an annual rate of 8.8 percent, and the figure is likely to be much higher in the near future, says the report.
The Rolls-Royce report predicts that Chinese airlines would buy more than 3,100 new planes over the next two decades, forming a huge market of 6,600 engines with an estimated value of 65 billion U.S. dollars in total.
China's demand for engines would contribute more than a quarter to the total demand in the Asia Pacific region, which is expected to need 26,000 new engines in the next 20 years, according to the report.
Ten Chinese carriers are currently operating with engines provided by Rolls-Royce.
