- Glaxo seeks scientists for research facility

GlaxoSmithKline Plc. (Glaxo), the world's second-largest drugmaker, wants to collaborate with scientists in China, where it's building a facility to research and develop medicines for Alzheimer's and other degenerative diseases.
Glaxo is spending an initial US$40 million on the Shanghai facility, it's first in China, where it plans to hire as many as 50 scientists, the London-based company said in a statement yesterday. More than 1,000 people may be employed within a decade at the center, which aims to work with local researchers on treatments for Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis.
