    Date: 7-Jun-2007 Sources: (Xinhua Online)

China's stock market continued to climb in Thursday's morning session amid an overall rally seen at the two bourses following a 0.24 percent rise registered on the previous trading day.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed the morning session at 3,832.09 points, up 55.77 points, or 1.5 percent higher over the previous close.

The index was gradually recovering from the continuous bearishness following the government policy of tripling stamp tax on stock trading from 0.1 percent to 0.3 percent last week.

The Component Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange ended Thursday's morning session at 12,612.86 points, up 274.68 points, or 2.23 percent, from Wednesday closing at 12,338.18 points.

The majority of stocks maintained the rising momentum in the morning session, with sectors such as construction building, environmental protection, coal and petroleum and real estate leading the market with an above-four-percent rise.

Nearly 50 stocks at the two bourses in Shanghai and Shenzhen rose to the daily limit of 10 percent.

Heavyweights were also active in the morning session to contribute to the positive performance of the market.

The Shanghai bourse recorded 778 gainers and 107 losers, while the smaller Shenzhen bourse had 535 gainers and 77 losers.

The two bourses registered a combined turnover of 134.19 billion yuan (17.5 billion U.S. dollars) on Thursday morning.
