BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- China's share prices gained on Thursday as the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 1.18 percent, or 49.50 points, to close at 4,230.82.
The key Shanghai index, which covers both A- and B-shares listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, was traded between 4,147.05 and 4,256.54 on turnover of 164.6 billion yuan (21.4 billion U.S. dollars).
The Shenzhen Component Index on the nation's smaller bourse climbed 1.05 percent, or 148.38 points to end at 14,255.61 on turnover of 88.4 billion yuan (11.5 billion U.S. dollars).
