- Chinese shares close higher on May 16

Chinese shares managed to rebound Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closing up at 3,986.04 points, 86.86 points, or 2.23 percent, higher than the previous close.
The index, which tracks both yuan-denominated A shares and hard-currency B shares traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, closed at 3,899.18 points on Tuesday.
