Chinese shares closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closing at 4,151.13 points, dropping 0.54 percent or 22.58 points from the previous close.
The index, which tracks both yuan-denominated A shares and hard-currency B shares traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, closed at 4,173.71 points on Wednesday.
