- Regulator to help rural banks list shares

THE banking regulator said it will support qualified rural commercial banks to list their shares and that Rural Commercial Bank of Zhangjiagang will be the first such bank to conduct an initial public offering.
Listing shares is part of the reform of the rural financial system, Jiang Dingzhi, vice chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission, said in a statement posted on the commission's Web site. Jiang added that listing shares can help rural banks improve their management and risk control.
