SHENZHEN-BASED Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., China's leading telecom equipment maker, said Tuesday its contract sales rose more than 34 percent to US$11 billion in 2006.
Huawei, whose customers include Spain's Telefonica, BT Group Plc. and Vodafone Group Plc., said in a statement that 65 percent of the contract sales came from overseas. Huawei competes with local rival ZTE Corp. in their home market, alongside global giants Motorola, Ericsson, Nokia and Cisco Systems Inc. in the contest for billions of dollars that China spends yearly on telecom gear as it upgrades its networks.
