- Ericsson inks GSM deal with China Unicom

TELECOM equipment maker Ericsson said yesterday it had signed a deal with China Unicom to upgrade the operator's GSM network in six Chinese provinces. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
Ericsson said in a statement it will upgrade the network with its mobile softswitch solution, which allows voice and data traffic to be carried over Internet Protocol (IP) technology, under the terms of the framework agreement.
