- CRI, China Mobile team up on mobile phone TV

BEIJING, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- China Radio International (CRI) has begun providing mobile phone TV services along with China Mobile, the country's largest wireless service operator.
Subscribers can watch news, plays, music, movies and other TV programs with their mobile phones starting Aug. 30.
The mobile broadcast also features programs about the Beijing Olympic Games from the Beijing TV Station.
Since April, the nation's multi-language broadcaster has collaborated with China Unicom, the country's second largest mobile carrier, on such services, according to the China Business News.
China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television has granted the country's third national mobile phone TV license to the CRI. The other two went to Shanghai Media Group and CCTV. Both have cooperated with China Mobile.
So far, 220 mobile phone operators worldwide has launched mobile video services and the Asian-Pacific region would be a huge market for mobile phone TV, said Li Yue, vice president of China Mobile.
