- China Mobile adds 4.83 million users

CHINA Mobile Ltd., the Hong Kong-listed unit of China's largest mobile carrier by subscribers, said Friday it added 4.83 million customers in December, up from 4.67 million new subscribers in November.
The monthly addition was the largest China Mobile has reported so far. The carrier said 4.5 million of its new customers in December were prepaid subscribers and 322,000 were contract customers. The December additions raised China Mobile's total number of subscribers to 310.23 million, from 296.41 million at the end of November. China Mobile's smaller rival, China Unicom Ltd., said Thursday it added 1.26 million subscribers in December, taking its total number of mobile customers to 142.37 million.
