CHINA Mobile Communications Corp., parent of the world's largest mobile-phone operator by users, plans to target customers in Pakistan's rural areas as it expands in the country, chairman Wang Jianzhou said Thursday.
The Beijing-based company is keen to 'replicate its success'' in China's rural market, Wang told reporters at the World Economic Forum in Dalian, northeastern China. China Mobile Communications is expanding overseas after its unit China Mobile Ltd. captured 66 percent of the domestic market, helped by fee cuts. The parent company in February acquired Paktel, the fifth-largest wireless operator in Pakistan, after an unsuccessful attempt to buy Millicom International Cellular SA.
