- Philippine court halts ZTE deal

THE Philippines' Supreme Court issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) yesterday against a US$330 million broadband contract between the government and Shenzhen-based ZTE Corp., a court spokesman said.
Jose Midas Marquez said a full bench of the court decided to stop the implementation of the contract between the Department of Transportation and Communications and Hong Kong and Shenzhen-listed equipment maker ZTE Corp. 'There has been a TRO issued,'Marquez told reporters, without elaborating. The temporary restraining order was requested by a local company that lost out on the contract.
