- China Mobile adds 5.59 million subscribers

CHINA Mobile Ltd., the world's biggest wireless carrier by users, added 5.59 million subscribers in August as the company attracted customers from fixed-line competitors with lower prices.
The operator added 42.3 million users in the first eight months for a total of 343.6 million as of Aug. 31, Beijing-based China Mobile said on its Web site Thursday. Smaller rival China Unicom Ltd. said Wednesday that it gained 1.43 million customers in August, less than the previous month.
