- Cheng Uei gets handset order from Huawei

TAIWAN'S Cheng Uei Precision Industry Co. will manufacture 1 million mobile phones a month for Shenzhen-based Huawei Technologies Co., the Commercial Times reported yesterday, citing an unnamed industry source.
The large order will lead to a sharp increase in Cheng Uei's handset production, from less than 100,000 handsets a month, the paper said. Shipments to Huawei are scheduled to begin in the first quarter next year, the paper said.
