China's maritime rescue team saved 75 people during the seven-day National Day holiday, including 27 foreign seamen, said the Ministry of Communications (MOC) on Monday.
'The weather conditions during the holiday were bad,' said Zhu Baozhu, director of the MOC Rescue and Salvage Bureau.
China was hit twice by typhoons and a cold current from the north.
From Oct. 1 to 7, the rescue team undertook 18 missions, which saved three freight ships, including two foreign vessels.
Cooperation between maritime and air rescue teams, which consisted of 56 ships and nine helicopters, 'substantially enhanced our rescue work', Zhu said.
The ministry said the rescue teams also extended help to four vessels, including one cargo ship and three fishing boats.
